I agree with that, but don't compare the two. Jesus actually taught how to suppress the hate and violence and human way of hatred and condemnation, Muhammad never did. Just because both fucked up on both sides, doesn't mean they are equal.
Also, Catholics killed. Before Catholics, Christians were pure and pacifists. It's when Rome took over and changed Christianity to a political religion and used it to gain power is when Christianity was messed up and started the Crusades.

Hate is not a human characteristic. Our nature was originally intended to be without flaws such as hate and greed, but we acquired these traits, this second nature, after the fall. Christ was both truly human and truly divine, so the "human parts" can not be the problem. No, we want guard and nurture our humanity, for to be truly human is to be like Christ (without being divine, obviously).
That's what the Orthodox teachings say.
