German knife, German helmet. There were no bones. Many soldiers carried her knife thus in the helmet with it is faster handy.

Was mich interessiert währe der nächste Schritt. Wenn die Marke des Soldaten gefunden wurde, kann man vieleicht auch den Namen herauskriegen. Ritterkreuz, Ehrenauszeichnung.... Viele Deutsche Soldaten haben bei Kriegsende ihre Soldatensachen vergraben und nichts mehr am Leib gehabt womit sie identifiziert werden konnten. Die Männer von der SS wurden besonders gejagt. Bleibt nun noch zu wissen wer der Mann war. Ansonsten, schönes Dokument

Again, I agree, a great find. Would be worth a National Geographic program, the finding of the identity of his soldier.
I do quite a bit of Civil War relic hunting. It's very difficult to find land that is not private or Govt. The area between Germany and Russia must have thousands of miles to explore
